Jharkhand criminals blow up part of railway track
DUMKA: Unidentified miscreants blew up a stretch of the meter gauge railways (MGR) line in Sahibganj district of Jharkhand on Tuesday night. The tracks are used to transport coal from the Eastern Coalfields Limited‘s Rajmahal coal project at in Godda with the NTPC’s Farakka-based thermal power plant in West Bengal.
Sahibganj SP Amit Kumar Singh said, “The incident occurred at pole number 40/1.A forensic team reached the spot and collected the broken pieces of the tracks found around 15mt away and an electric wire, besides debris from the two-foot ditch caused by the explosion,” adding that no device has been recovered near the site.
CISF Commandant Vijay Kumar said the tracks are patrolled before the movement of cargo trains, which are also provided with CISF security during their journey. There have been no movement of cargo trains on the tracks for past two days. The SP said the blast was likely triggered by miscreants aiming to pilfer coal.
