Dewald Brevis (Video grab)

MI Cape Town‘s Dewald Brevis stole the spotlight with a jaw-dropping boundary catch to dismiss Joburg Super Kings‘ skipper Faf du Plessis during a rain-affected SA20 clash at the Wanderers on Saturday. The incredible moment unfolded on the first ball of the eighth over, bowled by Kagiso Rabada, when du Plessis, batting on 30, appeared to have struck a certain six.
Brevis, nicknamed “Baby AB” for his remarkable skills, defied the odds on the slippery Johannesburg outfield. He intercepted the ball inches from the boundary rope, threw it into the air, and dived back in to complete the catch, leaving spectators and players in awe. After a careful review by the third umpire, the decision was confirmed, drawing widespread acclaim.

As it happened: JSK vs MICT
Joburg Super Kings were set a revised target of 136 runs after multiple rain interruptions. They were comfortably ahead at 82/3 in 11.3 overs when rain returned to halt proceedings for good. Leus du Plooy (24 not out) and Wihan Lubbe (0 not out) were at the crease when the match was called off, securing four crucial points for the Super Kings.
Earlier, MI Cape Town struggled at 30/4 before George Linde (48) and Delano Potgieter (44) powered them to a respectable 140/6 with a crucial 65-run stand. However, their efforts were overshadowed by the rain and Brevis’ unforgettable moment of brilliance in the field.
